Stop the 50% increase in garden waste charges to £45

The Labour cabinet has passed proposals to increase garden waste charges to £45 this year. The proposal now goes to a final vote on 28th February. So now is the time to tell the Labour cabinet “No”.

Labour are embarrassed by this proposal. They slipped it out in late information and it is buried in the fine print of a report. We’ve had to seek further information from council officers. The charge takes no account of ability to pay. We’ve just learned that it will hit 5 times as many households in the lowest council tax bands (A&B) as it does to the highest (bands G&H).
